The Global Solidarity Hub is a dynamic initiative lead and designed by Irish INGOs working together to engage the Irish public on issues of global justice and human rights.

Mission Statement

The Global Solidarity Hub is a collaborative platform for Dóchas members to collectively engage the Irish public on global development issues and Ireland’s overseas development aid (ODA) programme. It aims to show the depth and breadth of Irish Aid’s funding to the sector and support public knowledge across several intersecting themes including climate justice, disability inclusion, sustainable agriculture, and fighting poverty.

The platform is dynamic, and all Dóchas members are welcome to get in touch and discuss their participation. The Hub has an ethos of non-competition, shared resources, and collaboration for the collective good, aiming to amplify the messaging of all involved.

Objectives

Background

The Global Solidarity Hub (GSH) is a dynamic, collaborative initiative designed to engage the Irish public on issues of global justice and human rights. Founding members of the Hub are Trócaire, Sightsavers Ireland and Worldview, through Dóchas’ Public Engagement Working Group. Bringing together INGOs from across Ireland, the Global Solidarity Hub provides an opportunity for each organisation to reach a wider audience, share varied messaging and showcase to the public the multitude of work that is carried out under Irish Aid funded programmes across the world.

The Hub emerged in 2023 from active discussions within the Dóchas Public Engagement Working Group relating to members Irish Aid funded Global Citizenship Education Programmes. Specifically, how best the sector could further engage the cohorts of the Irish public in global development issues and Ireland’s overseas development programme.

The Hub’s activities presents a rare opportunity to engage with a large, wide and varied audience encompassing all of the Worldview segments, in an effort to deepen understanding and awareness of ODA and international development issues including the SDGs.
