(1) “Together for Global Climate Action” Conference – 3 November
This conference will be a moment for critical, timely discussion between experts, policymakers, and civil society on what is at stake at COP31 for climate finance and what will be needed to realise the global ambitions set out in the Paris Agreement, and to engage with and support the Irish EU Presidency ahead of COP31. Together, we will explore how the EU, and the humanitarian and development sector more broadly, can protect frontline communities, build long-term resilience, and turn climate finance promises into tangible action. (1) Sightsavers Ireland: “Through Their Eyes: A visual exhibition by Sightsavers Ireland showcasing the prevention of avoidable blindness” – 6 October
You’re invited to join us for the launch of Through Their Eyes, a new visual exhibition from Sightsavers Ireland showcasing the prevention of avoidable blindness, taking place on Tuesday, 6 October at the Pillar Room at the Rotunda Hospital, Dublin. Through photography and personal stories from across Sightsavers’ work, the exhibition will explore the impact of avoidable and preventable blindness, while highlighting the interventions that can protect and restore sight. The evening will also feature a panel discussion with Sumrana Yasmin, Simon Bush OBE, and photographer Jason Mulikita, bringing together perspectives from eye health, neglected tropical diseases and visual storytelling. Refreshments and a tour of the exhibition will begin at 6 pm, followed by the official launch and panel discussion from 6.30–8 pm. Find out more details here.
(2) Institute of International and European Affairs: Kirsty McNeill MP, UK Minister of State for International Development – 8 October
UK Minister of State for International Development, Kirsty McNeill MP, will deliver a keynote address on the evolving challenges and opportunities facing international development policy. She will explore the UK’s approach to development cooperation in an increasingly complex geopolitical environment, including the role of international partnerships, multilateral institutions, and responses to major global crises. The discussion is also expected to consider the growing links between development, climate action, and international security. In her ministerial roles, McNeill has had responsibility for: Africa; development and humanitarian; international finance; and climate and energy security. (3) Plan International Ireland: That’s on period: A Pop-up Global Exhibition – 15 October
That’s on period is an interactive exhibition exploring menstruation as an issue of dignity, equality, education, health and human rights. Developed by Plan International Ireland, the exhibition will bring together stories, artefacts, creative installations and community participation to challenge stigma, spark conversation and inspire action on period justice. Join us at Flux Studios for an unforgettable journey that fosters greater understanding of the barriers many face in managing their periods safely and with dignity, while celebrating the solutions and movements driving positive change. (4) National Disability Authority: NDA 2026 Annual Conference, Disability inclusive responses to natural and man-made emergencies (Article 11 UNCRPD) – 15 October
The National Disability Authority would like to invite you to its 2026 Annual Conference. This year’s event will examine disability inclusive responses to natural and man-made emergencies in line with Article 11 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). Article 11 of the UNCRPD focuses on situations of risk and humanitarian emergencies. It requires measures to be taken to ensure the safety and protection of persons with disabilities during situations of risk and humanitarian emergencies. The Conference will be a hybrid event, in-person at the Havelock Suite, Aviva Stadium, Lansdowne Road, or online via Zoom. This event will be free of charge. Registration is now open here.
(5) National Youth Council of Ireland: What does genuine belonging look like for Black young people in Ireland today? – 22 October
Join us, in person, on Thursday 22nd October! As part of Black History Month 2026, NYCI invites youth workers, managers and youth sector practitioners to join us for a day of exploration, reflection and practical learning focused on ethnicity, identity, belonging and power in youth work settings. We know that meaningful inclusion requires more than good intentions. Throughout the day, we will explore questions and topics that help create more inclusive youth work spaces. Through shared learning, reflection, and discussion, participants will gain insights and practical tools to strengthen inclusive practice and support genuine belonging for all young people. The Global Solidarity Hub – Youth for Action event brings together young people aged 18–30 from across Ireland to explore the issues that matter to our generation, from climate justice and gender equality to inclusion, humanitarian action and global solidarity. As part of the Associated EU Presidency Events programme, the symposium will create a space for young people to share experiences, challenge ideas, build connections and explore how we can play an active role in shaping a fairer and more sustainable world. Delivered by the Global Solidarity Hub, with partners Sightsavers Ireland, GOAL, Trócaire and Black and Irish, the event will take a citizen-centred approach to the themes shaping Ireland’s international development agenda. (6) Self Help Africa: Communications Officer – 2 October

(7) Irish Red Cross: Migration Services Caseworker – 6 October
The casework role for the Irish Red Cross encompasses a variety of services, including but not limited to the Ukraine Pledge Accommodation programme, IRPP-mandated resettlement, and the Gaza Minors Medical Initiative. The Irish Red Cross is tasked under its mandate as auxiliary to the Irish Government to co-ordinate offers of support from the Irish Public, to support the placement of refugees into suitable accommodation and to support the social integration of refugees at community level. This role is primarily focused on delivering casework support under the Ukraine Pledge Accommodation Programme. Find out more here.
(8) Irish Red Cross: Migration Services Caseworker (Gaza Medical Evacuation) – 6 October
The Gaza Medical Evacuation Initiative is a humanitarian programme led by the Irish Government in collaboration with the Health Service Executive (HSE), Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) and the Irish Red Cross (IRC). The initiative supports children evacuated from Gaza for specialised medical treatment in Ireland, together with their immediate families. Find out more here.
(9) UCD Volunteers Overseas: UCDVO Programme Assistant, UCD Global – 9 October
UCD Volunteers Overseas is located within UCD Global and provides opportunities for students, staff, faculty and alumni to engage in international volunteering and global citizenship education programmes. Volunteers engage in volunteering overseas/and/or virtually for four weeks each year to work on a broad range of community development projects carried out in partnership with NGOs, academic institutions and community groups. (2) Irish Development Education Association: Training- There Is No Alternative, or Is There? We Need to Talk About Economics in GCE – 14 October
Join the Irish Development Education Association (IDEA), in collaboration with Financial Justice Ireland (FJI) and the Centre for Global Education (CGE), for this autumn training on Wednesday, 14 October, 10.00 am – 4.30 pm at the Carmelite Centre, Dublin 2. Central to Global Citizenship Education is exploring the root causes of social and environmental injustices. One of the biggest root causes of many of the issues explored through GCE is the neoliberal economic model. This training will support participants in giving explicit attention to the economic factors that affect, or are affected by, the social, environmental or political issues being investigated.
