(1) Future Funding of Sustainable Development: Fragile & Conflict-Affected States – 25 September
A High-Level Forum convened by Dóchas for Ireland’s EU Presidency. This forum aims to examine how the EU Integrated Approach to Fragility can be practically operationalised, scaled, and measured on the ground. (1) Institute of Climate & Society DCU: Public lecture by European Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra and panel discussion – 29 September
The DCU Institute for Climate and Society is delighted to host a public lecture by European Commissioner for Climate, Net Zero and Clean Growth, Mr Wopke Hoekstra, on Tuesday 29 September starting at 2:00 pm on the DCU Glasnevin Campus. (2) Sightsavers Ireland: “Through Their Eyes: A visual exhibition by Sightsavers Ireland showcasing the prevention of avoidable blindness” – 1 October
You’re invited to join us for the launch of Through Their Eyes, a new visual exhibition from Sightsavers Ireland showcasing the prevention of avoidable blindness, taking place on Tuesday, 6 October at the Pillar Room at the Rotunda Hospital, Dublin. Through photography and personal stories from across Sightsavers’ work, the exhibition will explore the impact of avoidable and preventable blindness, while highlighting the interventions that can protect and restore sight. The evening will also feature a panel discussion with Sumrana Yasmin, Simon Bush OBE, and photographer Jason Mulikita, bringing together perspectives from eye health, neglected tropical diseases and visual storytelling. Refreshments and a tour of the exhibition will begin at 6 pm, followed by the official launch and panel discussion from 6.30–8 pm. Find out more details here.
(3) National Disability Authority: NDA 2026 Annual Conference, Disability inclusive responses to natural and man-made emergencies (Article 11 UNCRPD) – 15 October
The National Disability Authority would like to invite you to its 2026 Annual Conference. This year’s event will examine disability inclusive responses to natural and man-made emergencies in line with Article 11 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). Article 11 of the UNCRPD focuses on situations of risk and humanitarian emergencies. It requires measures to be taken to ensure the safety and protection of persons with disabilities during situations of risk and humanitarian emergencies. The Conference will be a hybrid event, in-person at the Havelock Suite, Aviva Stadium, Lansdowne Road, or online via Zoom. This event will be free of charge. Registration is now open here.
(4) National Youth Council of Ireland: What does genuine belonging look like for Black young people in Ireland today? – 22 October
Join us, in person, on Thursday 22nd October! As part of Black History Month 2026, NYCI invites youth workers, managers and youth sector practitioners to join us for a day of exploration, reflection and practical learning focused on ethnicity, identity, belonging and power in youth work settings. We know that meaningful inclusion requires more than good intentions. Throughout the day, we will explore questions and topics that help create more inclusive youth work spaces. Through shared learning, reflection, and discussion, participants will gain insights and practical tools to strengthen inclusive practice and support genuine belonging for all young people. (6) Irish Red Cross: IMPACT-H Peer Migrant Health Worker – 27 September
The Peer Migrant Health Worker will use their lived experience as a migrant in Ireland to provide practical support, information, and advocacy to migrant communities. Drawing on their experience and understanding of the barriers and challenges faced by people from migrant backgrounds, the postholder will build trusted relationships and provide culturally sensitive health signposting and support to groups who may have difficulty accessing health and community services. Peer Migrant Health Workers will be recruited from, or have strong connections with, similar ethnic and cultural communities and will receive training to enable them to appropriately draw on their lived experience in their work. They will provide accessible information on how to navigate the health system, while building strong links between migrant communities and health and community services. Find out more here.

(8) UCD Volunteers Overseas: UCDVO Programme Assistant, UCD Global – 30 September
UCD Volunteers Overseas is located within UCD Global and provides opportunities for students, staff, faculty and alumni to engage in international volunteering and global citizenship education programmes. Volunteers engage in volunteering overseas/and/or virtually for four weeks each year to work on a broad range of community development projects carried out in partnership with NGOs, academic institutions and community groups. STAND’s 6-week, part-time Global Issues Courses return this autumn with the theme Peace and Reconciliation. UCD’s course runs Tuesdays from 29th September to 3rd November, 6:30 to 8:30 pm. (2) Irish Development Education Association: Training- There Is No Alternative, or Is There? We Need to Talk About Economics in GCE – 14 October
Join the Irish Development Education Association (IDEA), in collaboration with Financial Justice Ireland (FJI) and the Centre for Global Education (CGE), for this autumn training on Wednesday, 14 October, 10.00 am – 4.30 pm at the Carmelite Centre, Dublin 2. Central to Global Citizenship Education is exploring the root causes of social and environmental injustices. One of the biggest root causes of many of the issues explored through GCE is the neoliberal economic model. This training will support participants in giving explicit attention to the economic factors that affect, or are affected by, the social, environmental or political issues being investigated.
