(1) EU Capacity Building Workshop Series: Understanding the EU (Members only)- 21 July

As Ireland prepares for its 2026 Presidency of the Council of the EU, Dóchas is hosting a workshop series with Common Good to help our members better understand EU structures and policymaking. The series will also explore how our members can best engage with Brussels to make the most impact. Register here

(2) Request for Tender: Policy Paper on Future Funding for Fragile & Conflict-Affected States – 17 July

Dóchas is seeking a consultant or agency to develop a policy paper on the future funding of sustainable development in fragile and conflict-affected states (FCAS), as part of its EU-funded programme supporting Ireland’s EU Presidency. The paper will examine implications of the next MFF (2028–2034) and Global Gateway for FCAS, drawing on civil society consultation and desk research, for publication ahead of a roundtable on 25 September 2026. Candidates need strong EU policy and development finance expertise, FCAS experience, and excellent research and writing skills. Find out more here.

David Hudson, Worldview Strategic Adviser, sits down with Dóchas CEO Jane-Ann McKenna to break down the research, its methodology, and what it tells us about where the Irish public is at with support for overseas development aid, and where it may be going in the future. (6) Oxfam Ireland: EU Private Finance & Economic Justice Policy Advisor (Brussels) – 20 July

Oxfam International’s EU Advocacy team is looking for a Policy Advisor to shape how the EU’s private finance instruments — Global Gateway, EFSD+ guarantees, blending — are held accountable for their impact on inequality, rights and power. (16) Irish Rule of Law International: Impact Manager – 31 July

IRLI is a civil society organisation supported by both branches of the legal profession across Ireland. We work to strengthen justice systems that uphold human rights, accountability, and access to justice across multiple jurisdictions, including Malawi, Tanzania, and Zambia. (1) Irish Rule of Law International: The Justice Edit – Claudio Visco

The international legal community is facing increasing scrutiny over its response to Gaza. As the humanitarian crisis deepens, there are growing calls for lawyers, bar associations, and legal institutions to speak more clearly about the application of international law, accountability, and the protection of civilians. Against that backdrop, Irish Rule of Law International interviewed Claudio Visco, President of the International Bar Association, for the latest episode of its podcast, The Justice Edit. The conversation explores Israel’s actions in Gaza and the principle of proportionality under international law, the role of the International Criminal Court, accountability for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the future of international justice, democracy and the rule of law, and the legal challenges posed by artificial intelligence. (1) Survey – Mapping the Evaluation Community in Ireland – 7 August

You are invited to take part in a short survey mapping people interested in or practicing evaluation in Ireland. The purpose of the survey is to understand demographics, areas of interest, and networking opportunities. It takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete. This survey is administered on behalf of the Irish Evaluation Network working group, an informal group of evaluators who are exploring the basis for re-establishing an Irish Evaluation Network. (2) Maynooth University: Dr Sinead McGrath Memorial International Development Scholarship – 1 September

The Centre for Global Development, Department of Anthropology, Maynooth University is pleased to announce the Dr. Sinead McGrath Memorial Scholarship Scheme for the forthcoming academic year, 2026/27. The CGD welcomes applications for a Master’s bursary, worth €2500 for the winning student. Applicants must have received a firm or conditional offer of a place on either the MA in International Development or the MA in International Peacebuilding, Security and Development Practice by 31st July 2026 for their bursary application to be assessed.
