(1) EU Presidency Launch Event: The future of Development cooperation: Civil society’s ambition for Ireland’s EU Presidency – 24 June

Dóchas invites you to the launch of its EU Presidency Project with a conference “The future of Development cooperation: Civil society’s ambition for Ireland’s EU Presidency” on June 24th at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. The event will feature a Keynote Speech on the role of civil society in a new global Europe, as well as panel discussions looking at challenges and opportunities for the EU’s International Partnerships, and what is at stake during Ireland’s presidency period. (2) Worldview, Forus International, and Coordination Sud webinar: Data-Based Narratives: Shaping ODA and Global Cooperation – 13 May

Forus will host an interactive session on how CSOs are using data to support communication, advocacy, and public engagement around ODA and international cooperation. The session will be an opportunity to learn from existing projects, campaigns, and research across the Forus network, including contributions from Dóchas/Worldview in Ireland and Coordination SUD in France, while also creating space for other members to share relevant experiences from their own contexts. Upcoming Events and Conferences

(1) Development Perspectives: Free Event in Drogheda – Pass the Occupied Territories Bill – 18 May

Development Perspectives is hosting a free event in Drogheda focused on the Occupied Territories Bill. The event will feature an update from Frances Black on its progress and ongoing political obstacles. The event will outline next steps for advancing the legislation and strengthening public pressure, following years of campaigning with limited progress. Find out more here.

(2) IDEA: AGM 2026 & Evaluation and Needs Analysis – 26 May

The Irish Development Education Association will host its 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) followed by an evaluation and needs analysis on Tuesday, 26 May, at the IDEA offices, 6 Gardiner Row, Dublin 1. The AGM official business will begin at 11.00am and continue until 12.30pm. The evaluation and needs analysis session will begin at 1.15pm – 3.30pm. All members are welcome and encouraged to attend both events, as member voices are vital to IDEA’s mission and work. You must be an IDEA member to attend. Find out more here.

(3) IDEA: Conference 2026 – 24 June

Register for The Irish Development Education Association’s 2026 Annual Conference, which will take place on Wednesday, 24 June in The Grand Hotel Malahide, Co. Dublin. The theme this year is Education for Liberation: GCE in an Age of Crisis, and we will be drawing on the legacy of Paulo Freire to explore education for liberation in the context of our world today. The day will feature a range of inspiring speakers, panellists, workshops and performances, along with plenty of space for conversation and connection. We will also host a member social gathering afterwards for those who wish to continue the discussions informally. Find out more here.

(4) University of Galway: Decolonising Ireland’s National Imaginaries: Narratives of Diaspora and Invisible Lives on the Frontiers of Colonialism – 17 June

Featuring contributions from Cauvery Madhavan, Dr Margaret Brehony, Holly Ritchie, Lavie Olupana, Dr Fiona Bateman, Owen Ward, and Dr Anita Rupprecht, this symposium explores tensions around race, white(li)ness, migration and the contested nature of the Irish colonial experience. Focusing on narratives of diaspora and invisible lives on the frontiers of colonialism, we discuss how the intersections of those experiences might influence responses to racism and migration by Irish society. (5) The EU Food Justice Forum: Global Crises, Rights and Policies – 9 June

A one‑day high‑level forum examining how EU policies shape the realisation of the right to food within the EU and beyond its borders, and the responsibilities they create across global food systems. Find out more here.

(6) Irish Rule of Law International: Strengthening Justice Systems Internationally – 20 May

Irish Rule of Law International (IRLI), in collaboration with The Bar of Ireland, invites you to a special event exploring how legal expertise from across the island of Ireland contributes to strengthening justice systems internationally. IRLI Executive Director Maria McCloskey will discuss IRLI’s work with partners in Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia and Ukraine to improve access to justice, support survivor-centred responses to gender-based violence, and strengthen justice institutions through international legal collaboration. The session will offer practical insight into the role of lawyers, judges and legal professionals in advancing the rule of law and human rights globally. Find out more here.

(7) Misean Cara: SafeBirth4All Conference: ‘Hope, Healing and a World Without Obstetric Fistula’ – 27 May

This year’s hybrid conference is taking place on May 27th 10-1pm, in the Marino Institute for Education, Dublin 3, you can register here. Obstetric fistula (OF) is one of the most neglected public-health and human-rights realities for women and girls in the global south. The event will highlight ongoing efforts to eliminate OF and strengthen maternal health systems, with a focus on collaboration, innovation, and global partnership. We will discuss the PART strategy (Prevention, Advocacy, Rehabilitation and Treatment), with breakout sessions on what next and how to get involved. The conference will bring together colleagues and partners committed to improving maternal health outcomes globally. Find out more here.

(1) The Wheel: Breakfast Club – 14 May

We are delighted that the Longford Women’s Link will host our next Breakfast Club on Leadership and Collaboration at 10am on Thursday 14 May 2026. Collaboration is a term used a lot in our sector, as we try to make a social impact. (2) IDEA: Resistance to Imperialism Webinar – 14 May

Registration is now open for the third webinar in The Irish Development Education Association’s series, Exploring Contemporary Issues through Global Citizenship Education, titled “Resistance to Imperialism,” on Thursday, 14 May, 12.00pm – 1.30pm, online. Imperialism is the primary contradiction facing the globe, and the split of the world into two poles, the imperialists and the anti-imperialists, is going to continue to shape our revolutionary struggles both within and between countries and between the Global North and South. Resistance to Imperialism is occurring everywhere, locally and globally. This webinar will inspire and give hope to our education work with examples from Minneapolis (USA), the Sahel States and the Lebanon. Find out more here.

(3) IDEA: Code of Good Practice for Development Education Network Meeting – 11 June

Registration is now open for the Irish Development Education Association’s Code Network Meeting in June 2026. IDEA is looking forward to welcoming all members of the Code of Good Practice for Development Education to our upcoming meeting on Thursday, 11 June, 9.30am – 12.30pm, online. (4) United Edge: From Control to Commons: Who Owns the Tools of Aid – 21 May

Join us as we host the TOTA Sharing Platform Launch of 24 open-source toolkits – co-created by 50+ organisations, including IRC and NEAR, with support from Sida – that are built as public goods for sharing and adapting, and an inspiring Panel that will challenge us to imagine what it takes to bring Justice Based solidarity to life. (5) The Development Studies Association Ireland (DSAI): Irish Funded Development Research Webinar – 27 May

The Development Studies Association Ireland (DSAI) will host a webinar on Wednesday, 27th May, from 1:00–2:00pm (Zoom) as part of its Webinar Series on Irish Funded Development Research. Focusing on SDG 13: Climate Action, the event will showcase collaborative, evidence-based research funded through the SDG Challenge. Find out more here.

(6) Irish Red Cross: Programme Support Officer – 14 May

This role provides administrative and operational support to the Irish Red Cross Restoring Family Links team. The role supports the RFL Programme Manager to ensure accurate case administration, effective coordination of services and the smooth day-to-day running of the IRC’s RFL function, in line with organisational policies and humanitarian principles. This is a demanding role that combines technical complexity with the need to engage and communicate compassionately with distressed clients, in line with protection best practice. (7) Irish Red Cross: Information & Outreach Officer – 14 May

This role is responsible for developing accessible information and training materials and delivering in-person and online information and training sessions on migration and Restoring Family Links. These trainings and information sessions will be delivered to relevant stakeholders and our beneficiaries, including Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection and International Protection Applicants (including unaccompanied minors). This role ensures that all stakeholders are well informed regarding IRC migration and RFL services, their rights and entitlements and how to navigate various administrative processes, such as those linked to the Temporary Protection Directive and the International Protection Process. (8) Irish Red Cross: Family Tracing Officer – 14 May

This role provides the delivery of family tracing to service users, including those residing in Unaccompanied Minor (UAM) residential centres nationwide. The role supports service users in tracing missing family members and facilitating the re‑establishment and maintenance of family communication. As part of the family tracing process, a Family Tracing Officer conducts sensitive interviews with service users to gather information and support the re-establishment of contact with family members. Service users include unaccompanied minors in the international protection process. For such cases, Family Tracing Officers will provide advice, guidance, support and information on the family tracing process in a child centred manner. There are 4 officer positions available. (9) Habitat Ireland: Store Manager – 22 May

The Store Manager will be responsible for the operation of ReStore Athlone, working hands on, making decisions and ensuring the store delivers both sustainable income and impact for local people, the wider community and the planet. Find out more here.

(10) Habitat Ireland: Donation Collection Driver/Volunteer Supervisor – 22 May

Working with volunteers the Donation Collection Driver will be responsible for the collection of donated materials, safely packing in the ReStore truck, returning to ReStore and unpacking. They will work alongside volunteers to assemble and display items on the shopfloor and will deputise for the ReStore Manager to ensure excellent customer service in ReStore. Find out more here.

(11) Habitat Ireland: Volunteer Coordinator – 22 May

The volunteer coordinator will provide intentional and meaningful volunteering opportunities for people of ages and backgrounds in ReStore. (12) CBM Ireland: Programme Officer – 17 May

CBM Ireland is seeking a Programme Officer to support the management and delivery of our inclusive health portfolio in Madagascar. Working as part of a small, dynamic programmes team, the Programme Officer will play a key role in ensuring high-quality programme oversight, donor compliance and reporting across a range of institutional and private funding streams, including EU. Concern Worldwide seeks to engage a consultant(s) to evaluate the Global Citizenship Education (GCE) programme funded under Ireland’s Civil Society Partnership for A Better World (2023 – 2027). This evaluation will take place in the fourth year of a five-year programme and will be a cross-sectional, theory-based evaluation, drawing on available evidence from 2023 to 2026 to examine causal pathways, actual and emerging outcomes. The Irish Development Education Association is delighted to invite members to deliver IDEA Summer Knowledge Share Sessions 2026, running every Wednesday in July and August as part of IDEA’s Capacity Development programme. These sessions support shared learning in Quality Development Education and Global Citizenship Education in Ireland and internationally. Sessions will take place from 12.00pm – 12.45pm, online on the following dates, 01, 08, 15, 22 and 29 July, and 05, 12, 19 and 26 August. These sessions will be hosted by an IDEA staff member.
