EU Capacity Building Workshop Series- Understanding the EU

As Ireland prepares for its 2026 Presidency of the Council of the EU, Dóchas is hosting a workshop series with Common Good to help our members better understand EU structures and policy making. The series will also explore how our members can best engage with Brussels to make the most impact.

This series moves past dense theory to give you actionable, real-world tools to understand, navigate and influence the EU system. Please note that places are limited to 30 participants. Registration requires a commitment to attend both sessions as we want Dóchas members to get the most out of the sessions.

Session 1 (In-Person): July 21st | 9:30 – 12:30

How the EU works, the mechanics of the upcoming Irish Presidency, and exploring the EU’s role as a humanitarian and development actor. This workshop will take place in Dublin.

Session 2 (Online): September 3rd| 10.00-11.30 

How to engage with EU policy, mapping entry points from MEPs to the Irish Permanent Representation in Brussels and networks such as CONCORD Europe.
