Upcoming Events and Conferences
(1) DCU: Conference on the Role of the Council of Europe in the pursuit of Peace, Justice & Accountability in Ukraine - 27 February
The Dublin European Law Institute at Dublin City University (DCU) in partnership with the Department of Foreign Affairs is organising a high-level conference on The Role of the Council of Europe in the pursuit of Peace, Justice & Accountability in Ukraine on 27 February at DCU and online. Amongst the high-level speakers at the Conference include Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Bjørn Berge, Commissioner for Human Rights, Michael O'Flaherty, former President of the European Court of Human Rights, Síofra O'Leary as well as many other legal, and academic and civil society experts. (2) Plan Ireland: International Women's Day Concert for Girls and Women in Crisis - 9 March
To mark International Women’s Day this year, Plan International Ireland is staging an intimate and inspiring afternoon of music and song in support of girls and young women in crisis. The event will take place at The Grand Social, Dublin from 4 PM–7 PM and will feature a host of talented and inspirational female singer songwriters and musicians, including Krea (of Wyvern Lingo), Sweet Jayne, Katie Phelan, Kathy Long and members of the all-female jazz ensemble Jazzabelles. (3) ActionAid: Women and Conflict - 6 March
The Women and Conflict event will highlight the disproportionate impact that conflict has on women and girls globally, as well as their crucial role in peacebuilding and conflict resolution. We’ll be joined by an amazing panel of speakers. Registration is essential, and we are excited to have you with us as we explore how women and girls are at the forefront of creating sustainable solutions and peace in times of crisis. (4) The Wheel: Leadership Academy Breakfast Club - 6 March
Many leaders have mentors who have supported their journeys, or people they look up to, but what role can leaders play for people coming behind them? This month we are joined by Damien Quinn, Founder of Spéire Nua, and Dr. Jennifer Okeke, Chair of the National Womens Council and the Anti-Trafficking Coordinator with the Immigrant Council of Ireland. (5) Self Help Africa: International Women's Day Webinar - 6 March
The event will focus on this year’s IWD theme: ‘For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment’ and will feature four young women, from Ethiopia, Nigeria, Morocco and Ireland (via Somalia), sharing their unique stories and testimony, covering a range of topics including climate activism, gender, nutrition and the role of women in agriculture. (6) Sightsavers Ireland: Solas na mBan free International Women's Day event - 6 March
Attendees will enjoy an expert-led panel discussion on Accelerating Action for Women with Disabilities featuring Sinead Burke, Sinead Kane and Dr Rosaleen McDonagh. Lunch and refreshments also provided. Find out more here.
(7) The Institute of International and European Affairs: Poverty, Prosperity and Planet Report 2024: Pathways out of the Polycrisis with World Bank Global Director for Poverty and Equity - 6 March
Luis Felipe López-Calva, Global Director for Poverty and Equity at the World Bank, will present the first post-pandemic assessment of global progress toward achieving the goals of ending poverty, he previously served as UN Assistant Secretary General for Latin America. This free, public event is the inaugural lecture of the 2025 Development Matters series, sponsored by Irish Aid. Find out more here.
(8) Oxfam Ireland: Ground Up Climate Justice Forum - 11-12 April
Where are the hopeful visions of the future in these dark and uncertain times? How do we build the powerful movements needed to make those visions a reality? Come to Cork this April to discuss how we win Climate Justice from the Ground Up. Hosted by Oxfam Ireland, this festival of ideas will feature workshops, discussions and performances from a wide range of inspirational grassroots organisations, activists, community groups and creatives from Ireland and beyond. (7) Compliance and Legal Administrator - 3 March
Working as a key part of the Compliance and Legal (C&L) Team, the Administrator role will provide support across the C&L area as required. Primarily, this will involve supporting the HR Manager and National Safeguarding Manager with administrative duties such as updating employee records and contract renewals, preparing basic reports, and pre and post safeguarding training administration. (10) Vita Impact : Programme Support Officer - 7 March
Vita Impact is seeking a Programme Support Officer to contribute to our innovative, community-led development programmes in Ethiopia and Eritrea. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role involves provision of program support to grant management processes, procurement coordination, and programme administration. Additionally, the role includes fundraising support, identifying new funding opportunities, and ensuring donor compliance. Ideal candidates will have a relevant third level qualification, and at least two years’ similar work experience in a project, operations, or administrative role in a busy office or preferably charity/NGO environment. CBM Ireland, together with CAN Europe are very excited to have launched a call for funding proposals around climate justice and just transition in the context of our new Funding Fairer Futures project. Together with ECOLISE, WECF, Generation Climate Europe and CBM Ireland, this call launched across 5 different funds:
The Feminist Climate Action Fund, led by WECF, will fund (eco)feminist organisations in Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Spain, and Sweden. Find out more here.

Internships
(1) Plan Ireland: Communications and Fundraising Intern - 3 March
Sitting within the Fundraising and Communications Department you will learn about the daily workings of a busy fundraising and communications team. From reviewing research and event co-ordination, to proof reading and data entry, you will provide assistance to the team across various areas including Marketing, Communications, Fundraising and Digital Media. This role would suit someone who is creative with an outstanding attention to detail and an eagerness to learn the internal workings of a leading International Development Organisation that uses a human rights based approach to address the root causes of poverty around the world. Courses and Training
(1) Development Perspectives: SDG Advocate Training 2025 - 10 March
The 2025 SDG Advocate Training is a 7-month project that offers 23 Adult and Community Educators an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through Global Citizenship Education and be supported in the design and implementation of informed SDG Action Project within their practice. (2) University of Galway: International Development Practice - 1 July
The MA in International Development Practice (MIDP) in the University of Galway focuses on the wide-ranging social, economic, political and environmental challenges of our rapidly changing world. Spanning global concerns, from sustainable development and climate action, gender equality, food security and alleviating poverty, this MA enables you to develop your capacities to understand and engage with both theories and practices relating to international development, with a strong emphasis on inter-disciplinarity and skills needed to work in the sector. (3) United Edge: Subsidized Justice Based Approach Foundation Course
