Dóchas News
(1) Call for Tender - Community Portal for Development with Supporting Business Processes
Dóchas is calling for submissions for a contract for services.As part of Dóchas' current strategic plan, we aim to further develop a strong and dynamic network that enhances opportunities for connection, coordination and collaboration. As part of that, we seek to create an increasingly innovative and inclusive space to stimulate and facilitate exchange and reflect on complex challenges. Dóchas would like to build an online community platform for more streamlined and dynamic member collaboration, while at the same time improving internal efficiency through automated workflows and greater systems integration.
We would like to work with IT, network and online engagement expert(s) or organisations who can confirm the approach we are taking and provide the deliverables outlined. Providers should also be able to offer strategic, practical, and troubleshooting advice on the project. Read the full terms of reference and find out more about the tender process here. (2) Vacancy - Programme Support Officer
Dóchas is seeking applications for a Programme Support Officer to begin in January 2025. The purpose of this role is to enable effective communication with Dóchas members through administrative support, communication, data management and support to Dóchas Working Groups. The PSO also leads on the development of Dóchas-led events, supports in Dóchas planning and reporting, and supports the Dóchas team on specific initiatives or campaigns. The Ubuntu Network, in association with the Education Department at Maynooth University, invites you to attend an Assembly event on the theme of Navigating the Space between Conflict and Curiosity: Exploring Controversial Issues in GCE which takes place on Wednesday, 15th January 2025 in Maynooth University. This daylong event will explore key challenges associated with teaching sensitive and emotive issues within GCE and particularly within a teacher education context. It will consider questions relating to educators’ positionality and values, the balance between responsible and free speech, and what pedagogical approaches might be effective. (4) GOAL: Global Citizenship Workshop Facilitator
GOAL Global is a humanitarian response agency, established in Ireland 47 years ago. GOAL works with highly vulnerable communities across the world, to help them respond to and recover from humanitarian crises. GOAL assists these communities to strengthen their local systems and build solutions to lift them out of poverty and vulnerability. The purpose of this role is to deliver GOAL’s innovative global citizenship education workshops for young people in primary schools, youth outreach and public engagement events throughout Ireland. The role is a part-time, freelance position with a great deal of flexibility in the location and days successful candidates will work. (5) Irish Red Cross: Humanitarian Response Officer - International
The International Department of the IRC plays a crucial role in this mission by providing humanitarian assistance to vulnerable communities worldwide. By collaborating with partner National Societies, the department responds to emergencies, such as disasters and conflicts and implements long-term development programmes in areas like livelihoods, health and National Society Development. The Humanitarian Response Officer will play a critical role in responding to international humanitarian crises. The Officer will be responsible for the planning, implementation and monitoring of programmes as well as resource mobilisation and stakeholder engagement. This role requires a strong understanding of international humanitarian principles and the ability to travel, often at short notice, and work effectively in complex and challenging environments. (6) Self Help Africa: Finance Systems Manager
This is a very exciting independent senior role in the SHA finance team as the organisation is going through a period of transition and requires systems and processes improvements. Key responsibilities of the Finance Systems Manager include analysing and improving current financial and compliance processes, continuing the rollout of our financial system across our country programmes, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving continuous systems improvement in finance operations. Aspiring candidates must have strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills, as well as process improvement, financial expertise and IT knowledge. (8) Centre for Global Education: Assistant Editor
The Centre for Global Education invites applications for the post of Assistant Editor that will involve supporting publication of our peer-reviewed, open access, bi-annual journal Policy and Practice: A Development Education Review. This position represents an exciting opportunity to work on one of the most influential publications in the development education sector. The post is part-time (17.5 hours), the salary is £26,760.00 per annum pro rata (plus employer’s NIC and Pension contributions). (9) Opportunity Green: Senior Manager
Established in 2021, Opportunity Green is a fast-growing not-for-profit organisation that helps to identify and unlock opportunities to tackle climate change. The role is a Senior Manager in our newly formed EU team. The Senior Manager will use their EU and Irish policy expertise to work with policymakers in Ireland to increase climate ambition during the period of Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, with a particular focus on the international aviation sector. For the latest episode of Irish Rule of Law International’s (IRLI) Horsehair Wigs podcast, journalist and broadcaster Evelyn McClafferty catches up with Deborah Ruiz Verduzco, the Executive Director of Trust Fund for Victims at the ICC (TFV). Based in The Hague, Netherlands, TFV is a central part of the court’s mandate: the reparative justice pillar of the court, giving effect to victims’ right to redress. They discuss a new era of reparative justice for the ICC, that’s according to Verduzco, who offers great insight into the workings of the fund – a fund which has been heavily criticised for failing to deliver on its mandate.
