(1) IGHN: Conference 2024: Fostering Humanity - Promoting Health Equity for a Better Planet - 2 & 3 October 

The Irish Global Health Network (IGHN) and the RCSI Institute of Global Surgery are pleased to invite you to the upcoming conference, “Fostering Humanity: Promoting Health Equity for a Better Planet,” taking place on October 2nd and 3rd, 2024 at College Hall, RCSI, Dublin. In a world marked by diversity and interconnectedness, achieving global health equity requires a profound re-evaluation of our approaches. This conference serves as a call to action—bringing together thought leaders, practitioners, researchers, and advocates to foster a sense of shared humanity and dismantle colonial legacies in global health. (2) Boardmatch: 5th Annual Charity Trustee Speed-Dating in Dublin - 16 October 

Boardmatch are back with their fifth annual Dublin event connecting charities and not-for-profits with potential board members. So far, this event has facilitated the recruitment of over 120 board members for more than 70 charities across Ireland. The event will take place on 16th October from 4pm - 8pm in CHQ Dublin. Charity/not-for-profit registration is €150 and includes attendance for 2 representatives (with one of these encouraged to be a member of the board). Upcoming Meetings, Seminars & Workshops

(1) Bridge 47 & IDEA: Event on the Eve of the UN Summit of the Future - 17 September 

Bridge 47 and the Irish Development Education Association (IDEA) will host an online side event on the eve of the UN Summit of the Future called “The Role of Global Citizenship Education in the Future We Want to Create” on Tuesday, 17 September, 1.00-2.00pm. A panel of distinguished international speakers will discuss the opportunities and challenges for Global Citizenship Education in the framework of the Pact for the Future, the declaration set to be signed by heads of state at the UN Summit of the Future on 23 September. (2) Community Platform: Report Launch - 'What Would it Take to Eliminate Consistent Poverty by 2030?' - 17 September 

The Community Platform invites you to join us for the launch of our new report, entitled What Would it Take to Eliminate Consistent Poverty by 2030? at 10:30am on Tuesday 17 September in the Carmichael Centre Dublin. Drawing on the collective expertise of our members – 31 leading organisations in the community and voluntary sector – this report identifies the groups most commonly in consistent poverty; provides key insights into the root causes and structural reasons for consistent poverty; and outlines solutions and recommendations to eliminate consistent poverty. (3) Concern Worldwide: Summit of the Future Webinar - 18 October 

Listen to our incredible youth activists from all over the world as they discuss the global issues most important to them and share their message to World Leaders as they gather in New York for the UN Summit. Joining the panellists will be Concern’s own Youth Champion, Esther, who will be sharing her experience of taking part in our Summit of the Future campaign as well as the key messages the young people involved in the campaign have put in our Youth declaration. (4) VSI: Youth for Climate Justice Project

Join VSI this September for our Youth for Climate Justice Project 2024. We will bring together a small group of young people to learn about climate justice and how it can be achieved. It will be a mix of online and in-person workshops, starting on 21st September in-person in Dublin, and running online for 5 evenings from 23rd – 25th September and 30th September - 1st October, with a final in-person day on Saturday 5th October. Participants must be aged 18-25 and living in Ireland. Find out more and apply here.

(5) IFIAD: National Youth Food Summit - 20 September 

The National Youth Food Forum will host a National Youth Food Summit on 20th September at the Airfield Estate, Dublin 14. 12am - 5pm. This event will bring together students and young people for a series of interactive workshops, panel discussions, and film screenings, all centered around agrifood systems, sustainability, innovation, and food security. (6) IDEA: Theory of Change for Global Citizenship Education: Introductory session for IDEA members - 24 September 

The Irish Development Education Association (IDEA) will host an introductory session on the development of a Theory of Change for Global Citizenship Education on Tuesday 24 September, 2.30-3.30pm, online via Zoom, led by Anna Cesari and Lisa-Marie Salley-Kerhascoet from Organisational Development Support (ODS). The session will introduce members to the planned process to create a collaborative Theory of Change for GCE and will also give a short introduction to Theories of Change and what they are. (7) Beyond Barriers: Webinar on 'Overcoming Obstacles to Achieve a Localised Humanitarian Response' - 3 October 

We are pleased to invite you to a presentation of the findings from the Beyond Barriers research project on localisation. The Beyond Barriers project, funded by USAID Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance, led by Concern Worldwide in partnership with a team of five research partners and with funding from USAID’s Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance (BHA), aimed to identify the barriers that limit locally-led humanitarian action and propose actionable solutions to those challenges. (4) GOAL: Global Accountability Advisor 

GOAL has responded to the world’s major humanitarian crises since its founding in 1977, working with vulnerable communities in more than 60 countries over the last 40 years. The Global Accountability Advisor will provide support to the design and implementation of accountability programming with the Community Feedback Mechanism (CFM) across GOAL's strategic goals. GOAL offers staff flexible working with our hybrid model, we require our HQ employees to work 2 days per week from our office in Dun Laoghaire, Dublin. (7) Christian Aid: Supporter Care Administrator (Belfast based) 

The Supporter Care Administrator will be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of the Supporter Care function for the Belfast office of Christian Aid Ireland and responsible for managing all aspects of voluntary income, including processing, banking, data entry, acknowledging and reconciling all fundraising income, providing backend support for all fundraising campaigns and appeals as well as providing excellent donor care. (8) Irish Coalition for Business & Human Rights: Policy Coordinator

The core purpose of this role is to coordinate the policy, advocacy and political engagement work of the Irish Coalition for Business and Human Rights (IBCHR). You will work with and seek to mobilise members of the ICBHR on issues of corporate justice and in support of the rights of communities and human rights defenders facing corporate harm. (9) Centre for Global Education: Assistant Editor

The Centre for Global Education seeks an Assistant Editor to support the publication of our peer-reviewed, open-access journal 'Policy and Practice: A Development Education Review'. This position represents an exciting opportunity to work on one of the most influential publications in the development education sector, both locally and internationally. The post is part-time (17.5 hours), and has a contract from 04 November 2024 to 31 May 2025 with prospects of extension. This is a hybrid post that involves working one day a week in the office of the Centre for Global Education and one day a week working from home. Find out more here. Closing date: 30 September

(10) Misean Cara: Project Officer (Research and Resources)

The Project Officer will work under the supervision of the Programme Coordinator, supporting the delivery of the plan of work, including liaising with member organisations and project teams, conducting research, developing resources, compiling reports and gathering learning. (12) Self Help Africa: Country Director for The Gambia

The Country Director will lead the country team and take ownership for the continuation of programme growth in The Gambia in line with the organisational and country strategy. Projects in The Gambia focus on sustainable land systems, food systems, and enterprise development, with a team of around 30 staff and an annual budget of approx. euro 2.5million. The majority of the team are in The Gambia and we have a smaller programme in neighbouring Senegal that the Gambia team closely collaborates with. It is planned for the Senegal programme to also grow to the point where it will have a separate management structure and programme portfolio. Find out more here. Closing date: 7 October 

(13) Transparency International: Helpline Coordinator 

Transparency International Ireland is an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to stopping corruption and promoting integrity in Irish institutions. TI Ireland seek a Helpline Coordinator to support the operation of the Speak Up Helpline and Integrity at Work, as well as to coordinate Helpline advisory services. Find out more here. Volunteering Opportunities 

(1) Misean Cara: Fundraising Committee Members

The purpose of the Fundraising Committee is to oversee and support Misean Cara's strategy to diversify and increase funding and advise on the sources and purposes of prospective donations and fundraising. The Committee meets a minimum of three times per year and hold responsibility for reviewing and reporting to the Board on Misean Cara’s fundraising activities against targets and advise on strategy. The Committee will work the Donor Engagement Manager and CEO to determine the future fundraising activities that Misean Cara will undertake and will help to identify and assist the DEM. (1) The Wheel & Community Action Network: Applications Now Open for Level 8 Transformative Leadership Programme 2024/2025

The Wheel and Community Action Network are delighted to announce that the Transformative Leadership Programme is running again for 2024/2025, and applications are now open! Real leadership is all about change - about possessing the right array of skills, abilities and knowledge to be able to bend the arc of history towards justice. The Transformative Leadership Applied Practice Programme will provide you with a Level 8 accreditation by focusing on strengthening and deepening your capacity and ambition as a leader in the Irish community and voluntary sector. Running from January to May 2025, the course consists of four core modules: Personal Leadership Model Building; Understanding and Leading Change; Systems Change; and Building Strategic Alliances. Find out more hereClosing date for applications: 27 September
