Dóchas News 

(1) Call for Consultant to Conduct Mid-Term Review of Dóchas Strategy 2022-2026

Dóchas is mid-way through its Strategy (2022-2026), which was developed in 2021 following a consultative process with members and key stakeholders. The purpose of the evaluation is to provide Dóchas, our members and Irish Aid with an independent assessment of the work over the first 2.5 years of the strategy. The main objective of this mid-term review is to take stock of our progress to date, and to identify what has worked well, or could work better, across our four strategic pillars. This will ensure that we can adapt or improve where needed, for the successful delivery and implementation of the strategy in its final 2 years. (1) Irish Red Cross: International Humanitarian Law Conference "75 years of Geneva Conventions - A Time to Reaffirm Commitments to the Rules of War" - 2 October 

This full day event will mark the 75th anniversary of the Geneva Conventions and will include a broad range of speakers from different backgrounds, including representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs, the humanitarian sector, academia and the media. The event will also feature an exhibition and provide space to bring together those with an interest in IHL. Find out more and register here.

(2) Saolta: Save the Date: Making spACE for Global Citizenship Education - 5 November 

Saolta is excited to announce "Making spACE for Global Citizenship Education," an event dedicated to exploring how we can create spaces for meaningful Global Citizenship Education and engagement within the Irish Adult and Community Education sector. This event will take place on 5 November at 2pm in Richmond Barracks, Dublin 8. FInd out more here.

(3) Boardmatch: 5th Annual Charity Trustee Speed-Dating in Dublin - 16 October

Boardmatch are back with their fifth annual Dublin event connecting charities and not-for-profits with potential board members. So far, this event has facilitated the recruitment of over 120 board members for more than 70 charities across Ireland. The event will take place on 16th October from 4pm - 8pm in CHQ Dublin. Charity/not-for-profit registration is €150 and includes attendance for 2 representatives (with one of these encouraged to be a member of the board). (1) Zurich Alliance & ODI: Making Climate Finance Work for All - Little Time Left to Agree an Ambitious NCQG - 4 September 

In collaboration with ODI, the Zurich Alliance, which Concern is a part of, have consistently advocated for greater accountability in climate finance. This year we are publishing a report exploring the collective aspect of the NCQG. Following the publication this report as well as another Alliance report outlining five critical tests for a robust NCQG, we are organizing an online event to share our findings. We would be delighted if can attend our upcoming webinar taking place 4 Septemeber 10-11am CEST. The webinar will bring together thought leaders and changemakers in international climate finance to discuss how best to shape the discussions going forward and achieve an NCQG that is fit-for-purpose. (2) VSI: Youth for Climate Justice Project

Join VSI this September for our Youth for Climate Justice Project 2024. We will bring together a small group of young people to learn about climate justice and how it can be achieved. It will be a mix of online and in-person workshops, starting on 21st September in-person in Dublin, and running online for 5 evenings from 23rd – 25th September and 30th September - 1st October, with a final in-person day on Saturday 5th October. (6) Plan International: Team Lead – Business Development Unit (Dublin-based)

Plan International Ireland is looking for a Team Lead for our Business Development Unit (BDU). In this role, you will lead our strategy to expand our funding base paying particular attention to institutional donors including the European Union (ECHO/INTPA), Education Cannot Wait (ECW), Irish Aid and UN agencies, while exploring new opportunities. (8) Christian Aid: Multiple Opportunities 

Humanitarian Programmes Officer

The post holder will be a core part of Christian Aid Ireland (CAI)’s humanitarian team and will support the Humanitarian Programme Manager to deliver and grow CAI’s humanitarian portfolio, with a particular focus on securing and managing Irish Aid and ECHO funding. The postholder will provide support to all aspects of CAI’s humanitarian programme, from proposal development to supporting implementation, monitoring, reporting, research and evaluation. Policy Coordinator - Irish Coalition for Business and Human Rights (ICBHR)

The core purpose of this role is to coordinate the policy, advocacy and political engagement work of the Irish Coalition for Business and Human Rights (IBCHR). You will work with and seek to mobilise members of the ICBHR on issues of corporate justice and in support of the rights of communities and human rights defenders facing corporate harm. Supporter Care Administrator (Belfast based) 

The Supporter Care Administrator will be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of the Supporter Care function for the Belfast office of Christian Aid Ireland and responsible for managing all aspects of voluntary income, including processing, banking, data entry, acknowledging and reconciling all fundraising income, providing backend support for all fundraising campaigns and appeals as well as providing excellent donor care. We are recruiting a Corporate Outreach and Engagement Officer as part of our work on the development and implementation of labour pathways (LPs) for displaced people. This role will report to the Executive Director, supporting work to build deep and impactful engagement with corporate and other project partners. The position is part of a Skills, Talent and Empowerment through Pathways project (STEP), which is a three-year project, co-funded by the European Commission’s Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF). Sanctuary in Education Coordinator

Places of Sanctuary Ireland wishes to recruit a part-time Sanctuary in Education Coordinator to work on a new project, ‘Sanctuary in Education - Stronger Together’, with Places of Sanctuary Ireland’s (PoSI) education streams. (12) Salesian Sisters: Assistant Mission Development Officer

The role of the Assistant Mission Development Officer (AMDO) is to support the work of the Mission Development Officer (MDO) of the Salesian Sisters in working with their mission effective project design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. It will require an ability to relate to project teams in the field, as well as an understanding of a missionary approach to development. (2) CBM Ireland: Research intern

Reporting to the CBM Global Advocacy Director, the Research Intern will be responsible for carrying out the tasks assigned by CBM Global and collaborating with the CBM Ireland advocacy team. Candidates must be able to come into the office at least four days per week between 10 am to 4 pm. Students or individuals at an early career stage interested in policy influencing, research and documentation on disability and international development should apply. The Intern will be offered various interesting tasks contributing to our global advocacy work. The internship is primarily volunteer, but we offer a monthly allowance. (1) The Wheel & Community Action Network: Applications Now Open for Level 8 Transformative Leadership Programme 2024/2025

The Wheel and Community Action Network are delighted to announce that the Transformative Leadership Programme is running again for 2024/2025, and applications are now open! Real leadership is all about change - about possessing the right array of skills, abilities and knowledge to be able to bend the arc of history towards justice. The Transformative Leadership Applied Practice Programme will provide you with a Level 8 accreditation by focusing on strengthening and deepening your capacity and ambition as a leader in the Irish community and voluntary sector. Running from January to May 2025, the course consists of four core modules: Personal Leadership Model Building; Understanding and Leading Change; Systems Change; and Building Strategic Alliances. (2) Trinity Impact Evaluation Unit: Online impact evaluation course

Trinity College Dublin's TIME research centre has launched its 2024 online Impact Evaluation Courses! Using the best online learning techniques, offering three exciting options: Impact Evaluation Methods: An Interactive and Collaborative Course (6 weeks) - starting 15 October 2024 (€640), Impact Evaluation Methods in Global Health (1 week) - starting 25 November 2024 (€150), Recommended Combination: Both courses (7 weeks) - starting 15 October 2024 (€740). (3) Saolta: Training of Trainers in Climate Justice and Just Green Transitions

Are you or your colleagues interested in promoting sustainability and “just green transitions” with adult learners in your local community? We are working towards a future where everyone in our society are well equipped to participate in and adapt to a world shaped by climate change. This training is free and open to all adult and community educators across the island of Ireland. It is held in collaboration with AONTAS- The National Adult Learning organisation of Ireland. All training materials, lunch and refreshments are included. The training is delivered by Saolta and will feature a number of guest speakers with expertise in the field of Climate and Environmental Justice. (4) Eurocheck Security: Hostile Environment Course

Hostile environment courses are suitable for individuals who are currently working in or are going to work in medium to high-risk areas. They will help to ensure that you keep yourself and those you are working with safer. Our main courses are conducted in Kildare but we can also run short bespoke courses at your own location. We also conduct online hostile environment and security awareness courses. All courses are suitable for NGOs, Charities, journalists, students, human rights workers and volunteers. (5) United Edge: Multiple Training Opportunities 

Transformative Safeguarding Course

Over 200 people from 60+ countries joined us for the inaugural launch of this course, from Safeguarding Directors to novices alike, and their feedback encouraged us to continue offering it at subsidised rates! It's time to reframe the current narrative away from compliance and colonial power dynamics towards genuine prevention, protection, compassion, agency, and justice because safeguarding should be led by those most affected. (1) Minister Fleming Launches 2025 Civil Society Fund Round 

The Civil Society Fund accepts applications annually from Irish and invited international civil society organisations for grants for overseas development projects. For successful applications, the Department will fund up to 100% of annual project costs up to the maximum grant limit. In 2025, the maximum available grant is €800,000 per annum (previously €400,000 per annum) and the timeframe to carry out projects is up to five years in duration (previously up to three years in duration). Completed Eligibility Forms should be submitted to the Civil Society Fund mailbox, no later than 5pm on Friday 6 September 2024.
