Dóchas News
(1) Call for Tender: Data Consultant for Dóchas Electoral Snapshots
Dóchas requires the support of a data consultant to develop the Dóchas Electoral Snapshots ahead of the next general election. The Dóchas Electorate Snapshots will be a critical advocacy tool for Dóchas and its members when meeting with political stakeholders. The purpose is to collect, analyse, and present data on the level of electorate-by-county support for aid and humanitarian and development NGOs in Ireland. More specifically, the Electorate Snapshots will be used to demonstrate to political and media stakeholders the level of concrete support for Dóchas member, and for aid and development more broadly, by the Irish public. It is envisaged that this piece of work should take approximately 6-8 days over July and August and deliverables are due by the 23rd August 2024. Find out more and apply here. Closing date: 8 July

(1) IFIAD: Food Systems Webinar - 10 July
IFIAD Food Systems Group will host a webinar with Anton Urfels from the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) on 10th July, 2024, 1pm to 2pm (Irish Time). Anton Urfels works on the interlinkages between sustainable intensification and climate change adaptation. (2) IIEA: Changing the Narrative on Migration with Amy Pope - 12 July
At a time when migration is one of the most pressing issues on the international agenda – and one of the most polarising – Amy Pope, Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), will reflect on why it is important to change the global narrative – from one that is highly politicised to one that captures the potential and rich benefits of this global phenomenon. Amy Pope is the Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), a post she has held since 1 October 2023. She brings a wealth of experience in addressing complex migration issues and a passion for changing the global narrative about people on the move. Community Summer BBQ Series for PPN members
Saolta is hosting a number of community BBQs this summer. These are an opportunity to bring PPN members together to celebrate your work and reinforce the networks of PPNs. They will be a practical and experiential exploration of how PPNs are a great way to take action on the local and global issues we face. We will explore ecosystem restoration in the context of the SDGs, the decade of ecosystem restoration and why global citizenship education is key for them to be achieved. Disability Inclusive Climate Justice Lead
An exciting opportunity to join a global movement for inclusive climate justice! CBM Ireland is looking for a Disability Inclusive Climate Justice Lead to immediately join its Advocacy team to lead our Funding Fairer Future – a EU DEAR funded, CAN Europe-led consortium project to promote disability-inclusive climate justice in Ireland, Europe and the Global South. Finance Officer
Interested in supporting the delivery of an exciting inclusive climate justice project? CBM Ireland seeks an experienced and dynamic Finance Officer to join our team. The role will ensure the effective delivery of an ongoing EU-funded project that will see CBM Ireland, together with a consortium of key actors, provide sub-granting, capacity building, and joint campaigning to a wide network of climate justice actors and movements in Europe and the Global South. (7) VIVA: Coordinator
Volunteers in Irish Veterinary Assistance (VIVA) is an Irish NGO supporting livestock farmers in the Developing World. We are a volunteer-based organisation but with increasing regulatory and fundraising demands we are now seeking a highly organised and self-motivated individual to join our team at VIVA. Reporting to the CEO, the role is broad-based and will include responsibility for and involvement in areas such as funding applications, maintenance of social media presence, fundraising event organisation, financial management, organisational communication as well as general administration and board support activities. (1) Carmichael & TU Dublin: Certified Charity Trustee Programme
This predominantly online 1 year part time programme has been designed in partnership with Carmichael and TU Dublin. The aim of this programme is to provide participants with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of their roles and obligations. Since 2021, Charities have been required to report on their compliance with the Charities Governance Code which is designed to help charity trustees meet their legal duties under the Charities Act 2009. With over 11,000 registered charities in Ireland this programme will assist organisations and their trustees to effectively fulfil their roles within an organisation in line with regulatory framework and to be professionally competent within the team to do so. (2) Maynooth University School of Law & Criminology: International Justice LLM Programme
The International Justice masters programme provides students with vital practical and conceptual insights into issues of human rights, equality and social inclusion under international law. It provides deep, critical engagement with how the international legal order works and how it seeks to protect vulnerable groups: economically marginalised communities, migrants, racialised groups, global south peoples, victims of gendered violence, and people with disabilities. The masters is open to people with legal and non-legal backgrounds alike. It includes a Postgraduate Placement module to work part-time at one of our partner organisations spanning human rights and development NGOs, trade unions, solicitor firms, research institutes, and more.
