Call for Tender - Data Consultant for Dóchas Electoral Snapshots

Dóchas requires the support of a data consultant to develop the Dóchas Electoral Snapshots ahead of the next general election. The Dóchas Electorate Snapshots will be a critical advocacy tool for Dóchas and its members when meeting with political stakeholders. The purpose is to collect, analyse, and present data on the level of electorate-by-county support for aid and humanitarian and development NGOs in Ireland. More specifically, the Electorate Snapshots will be used to demonstrate to political and media stakeholders the level of concrete support for Dóchas member, and for aid and development more broadly, by the Irish public. It is envisaged that this piece of work should take approximately 6-8 days over July and August and deliverables are due by the 23rd August 2024. Find out more and apply here. Closing date: 5 July 

Call for Tender - Worldview Research Project Final Evaluation

Dóchas requires the support of a consultant to facilitate the evaluation of the Worldview Project in its first five years. The purpose of the evaluation is to provide Dóchas, our members, and Irish Aid with an independent reflective assessment of the work of Dóchas over the period of Worldview since 2020. The main objective of this formative evaluation is to assess if Worldview has succeeded in achieving its objectives since its inception. The evaluation should identify what has worked well, less well or could have been implemented, managed and/or designed better, therefore assessing the opportunities, limitations and effectiveness of the Worldview research project. IFIAD: SEADS Webinar

IFIAD will host a webinar on the "Standards for supporting crop-related livelihoods in emergencies (SEADS)" handbook on 27th June, 2024, 10am to 11am (Irish Time). The aim of SEADS is to have common standards in humanitarian crop interventions from assessments, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Alistair Short is the SEADS Coordinator and is currently supporting the institutionalisation of SEADS to improve the design of crop-based interventions in humanitarian and development programmes. Find out more and register here.

Webinar on Implementing Effectively in Human and Social Services by Dr. Ruth Pritchard

A lot of effort goes into planning interventions and programmes but implementation, typically, receives far less attention and yet, this is where most of us live - in the real, often messy, world of practice and continuous improvement. This webinar is grounded in Implementation Science and will be useful to public sector, partner agency and NGO staff in human & social services fields who are implementing evidence-based interventions, programmes and services and want to improve their implementation practice. The webinar, taking place on 3rd July, will provide an overview of implementation science principles, concepts and frameworks, with signposting given to useful resources and toolkits to support practice. CO3 & Humanitarian Leadership Academy:  Eco Leadership Programme

The Humanitarian Leadership Academy and the Eco-Leadership Institute, in partnership with CO3 (Chief Officers Third Sector) are delighted to offer a unique 3.5-day leadership development event taking place 19-22 November. Designed to bring leaders from diverse backgrounds together to create a community learning experience and explore new leadership approaches, this programme aims to create space for participants to pause and reflect, develop their leadership capability and for a collective leadership learning experience to emerge. Community Wetlands Forum: Workshop on Wetland Conservation

The Community Wetlands Forum is organising a workshop on Thursday 27 June in the Íontas Theatre, Castleblayney, to explore the topic of land access for community led wetland conservation. Without access to land, whether it be via ownership, leasing or agreement with landowners, projects can't go ahead.The workshop will explore successes and barriers to accessing land for community wetland conservation and stewardship projects. It will hear from members of the Community Wetlands Forum (CWF) about their challenges and successes in accessing land via different means. We will also hear the perspectives of academics, NGOs and semi-states working in the space. Find out more and register here.

Oxfam Ireland: Senior Policy and Research Coordinator

Oxfam Ireland is looking for policy researchers specialising in climate justice and / or economic inequality to join our growing team of advocates who want to fight inequality at home and abroad. If you are comfortable with policy detail and writing, enjoy collaborating with teams in a busy environment and like to work closely with politicians and civil society then we would like to hear from you. Plan International: Business Development Support Officer

Our Business Development team is currently recruiting a support officer to work across the programmes team to assist in the development of quality donor proposals in a timely and effective manner. Reporting to the Business Development Team lead, this role requires experience and understanding of proposal development and knowledge of compliance in relation to institutional donors including the EU – ECHO and INTPA. Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS): Project and Outreach Support Worker (South-East Region)

The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international NGO with a mission to accompany, to serve and to advocate the cause of refugees and forcibly displaced persons.  JRS Ireland is now seeking to recruit for the role of Projects and Outreach Support Worker. This is a full-time role (35 hours per week), administratively based in the Dublin area, with national travel and service delivery throughout the South-East region required. This will include, but is not limited to Waterford, Wexford, Carlow, Kilkenny, Tipperary, Laois and Kildare. Initial contract is for 24 months with renewal subject to funding and performance. Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF): Multiple Opportunities 

Paediatrician

As a paediatrician you provide medical care to (mainly) paediatric patients according to MSF protocols, values, and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients’ health conditions. Other duties involve standardising protocols and guidlines in line with MSF and international standards, and organising and carrying out formal training sessions. Assets for this role include a strong medical background and specific training/experience in areas such as tropical medicine, obstetrics, gynaecology, infectious diseases and emergency medicine. Gynaecologist

From flying to remote areas to manage complicated deliveries to caring for women struggling from debilitating conditions in conflicts, MSF obstetricians/gynaecologists make a huge impact on women’s lives in our projects all over the world. Our gynaecologists also require obstetrical skills as they will often run an entire maternity ward in a large secondary health facility. It's a challenging and rewarding role and you will be responsible for providing curative care for women and children, performing obstetrical surgeries where necessary and managing and training a team of staff. ER Medical Doctor

From caring for people living with neglected tropical diseases to conducting rounds to survey trauma patients in a large Ministry of Health hospital after a bout of conflict, MSF’s doctors provide life-saving care every day in our projects. Being a medical doctor with MSF can be a challenging role, and the needs are very diverse depending upon the project you work in. Medical doctors are based in the project, and will often care for people affected by some or all of the following: Malaria, Malnutrition, HIV/AIDs or TB, injuries sustained in a conflict zone, trauma and tropical diseases. Concern Worldwide: Consultant to review GCE Grants Scheme

The review's main aim is to assess the current grants scheme and grants to primary education centres who run the Primary Debates regionally on behalf of Concern, and propose changes where required. Concern has recently developed a new strategy for Global Citizenship which encompasses Global Citizenship Education and campaigning for change. This review of the grants scheme and Primary Debate grants is in line with the organisations efforts to deliver the Global Citizenship strategy. The consultant will engage with grant partners (current and those from the past few years) and internal stakeholders using both qualitative and quantitative methods of data collection where appropriate. Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF): Digital Marketing Intern

MSF Ireland has achieved significant growth in recent years, with private income increasing year-on-year. MSF is set to build on this success, with a focus on the continuation and scaling up of existing fundraising activities. The Digital Marketing Intern will assist the Digital Marketing Coordinator in the overall maintenance and improvement of best practice regarding the digital marketing channels. The right candidate will be passionate about all things digital and will help with a range of digital campaigning tasks to help maximise income from online channels, including the recruitment of new supporters and the development of relationships with existing supporters. Beyond Stigma: Professional Intern

We are looking for a creative and confident self-starter with professional skills and real interest in self stigma as it affects particularly vulnerable population groups such as people living with HIV, survivors of gender-based violence, sex workers, people affected by TB and others. Beyond Stigma is a small organisation that works in Zimbabwe, Vietnam and Ireland primarily designing programmes and carrying out research on self-stigma related. Development Perspectives: Introduction to Global Citizenship Education

International Justice LLM programme at MU School of Law & Criminology

The International Justice masters programme provides students with vital practical and conceptual insights into issues of human rights, equality and social inclusion under international law. It provides deep, critical engagement with how the international legal order works and how it seeks to protect vulnerable groups: economically marginalised communities, migrants, racialised groups, global south peoples, victims of gendered violence, and people with disabilities. The masters is open to people with legal and non-legal backgrounds alike. Irish Rule of Law International: Horsehair Wigs Podcast

In the latest episode of the podcast, legal expert, Rhea Kneifati, who specialises in sexual and gender-based investigations talks to us on the show this month. Rhea discusses the significant problem of the disappearance of women in Mexico, where there are currently 27,000 missing women. Rhea was deployed by Justice Rapid Response - an NGO with a roster of experts investigating international crimes and serious human rights violations – to work with a Mexican strategic human rights litigation organisation, Idheas to investigate the disappearance of women in the Mexican state of Guerrero. The state is one of the central points of violence by organised crime and human rights violations in the context of the so-called “war on drugs”. Listen here.

Conference 2024: Call for Abstracts

The Irish Global Health Network is inviting abstracts from individuals, partnerships, and organisations under the overarching theme of the 2024 Conference; Fostering Humanity: Promoting Health Equity for a Better Planet. We particularly encourage submissions from those who have been or are doing work with a focus on themes such as decolonalisation, digital health technologies, community-led initiatives and EU facing initiatives. Submissions are welcome from global and local perspectives. Submissions may take the form of research findings, evaluations of programmes and projects, policy lessons from the field, or other forms of systematic learning about global health.
