(1) Dóchas AGM 2025 - 8 May
Dr. Tammam Aloudat, CEO of The New Humanitarian, will deliver a keynote address on ‘The future of ODA – What now?’. Dr Aloudat is a Syrian-Swiss physician with over two decades of experience at the forefront of international humanitarian organisations and is a leading advocate for decolonising global health and advancing humanitarianism. (2) Comhlámh Justice for Palestine Member Group: ’Prisoners of the Occupation’ Theatre Production - 20-22 May
Comhlámh Justice for Palestine Member Group proudly presents the Irish premiere of 'Prisoners of the Occupation' - a gripping and thought-provoking political theatre piece created in collaboration with Palestinian political prisoners. Don’t miss this powerful portrayal of resilience and resistance on stage, which shines a light on the human rights violations faced by Palestinian political prisoners and to raise money for the ADDAMEER Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association. (3) DCU Institute for Climate and Society: Annual Conference - 29 April
The DCU conference "Dispatches from a changing climate: Engaging society through activism, storytelling and the arts", takes place on Tuesday 29 April on the DCU Glasnevin Campus. The keynote speaker is Mary Lawlor, UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights Defenders, who will deliver a report to the UN General Assembly this autumn on the challenges faced by human rights defenders working in the context of climate change and a just transition. The conference will also feature a range of speakers from the arts, the media and academia, with a live performance by vocal quartet Landless to close the day. (4) Concern Worldwide: Campaigning 101 workshop - 7 May

(5) Concern Worldwide: Intergenerational Climate Café with Concern Worldwide - 30 April
Join Concern's intergenerational climate campaign. Through in person and online climate cafés discussing global issues, Concern is gathering voices of all ages to shape a better future. Your thoughts and opinions will be turned into key climate demands forming their intergenerational climate declaration. The declaration will be delivered to the Irish Government before COP30 in November. Let’s make a change together. Find out more here.
(6) The Wheel: The Wheel Leadership Academy Breakfast Club - 22 May
On the 22 May, The Wheel will be in the Claremont Stadium in County Meath, discussing Leadership and Allyship. An ‘ally’ refers to a person supporting a marginalized group and as the world turns on DEI now more than ever, we need to understand our responsibilities as allies and roles as individuals and leaders. The event speakers are actively committed to allyship and reflecting on their journey. Edel Mc Sorley is Operations Director at Mr. Price Branded Bargains, and Guillaume Jacquinot is Campaign and Advocacy Manager for The Wheel. The Irish Development Education Association is receiving registration for their third webinar in the webinar series 'Exploring Contemporary Crises and Issues through Global Citizenship Education: Between Neutrality and Militarisation'. Global tensions are rising, with increasing drumbeats of war and militarism. What does the future hold for Ireland’s role internationally? This third session will explore the topics of militarisation, neutrality, and peace education. (2) UCD webinar: Peacebuilding in Action - Colombia, Ireland and Beyond - 23 April
Join a cross-instituional webinar with speakers from Catholic University of Colombia, University of Santiago de Compostela and University College Dublin to discover practical evidence-based approaches to peacebuilding in different contexts; learn about experiences from Colombia, Spain, Ireland and beyond in creating sustainable and lasting peace; and learn from international experts on key issues such as political polarization, structural inequality and the gendered dimensions of hunger in peace and conflict. (2) STAND: Call for tenders - consultant for mid-term review - 5 May
STAND is seeking an experienced consultant to lead the mid-term review of our Global Citizenship Education Strategic Partnership with Irish Aid. This review will evaluate their progress from January 2023 to June 2025 and help shape strategic priorities and an updated results framework. STAND looking for someone with proven expertise in Global Citizenship Education, knowledge of the Higher Education sector in Ireland, and a track record of using participatory evaluation methods. Courses and Training
(1) University College Dublin: Module on Addressing Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies at UCD Centre for Humanitarian Action - 14 April- 16 May
A limited number of spaces are available for practitioners and/or early career researchers interested in addressing gender-based violence (GBV) in disparate humanitarian contexts. This full-time, mostly in-person module will run from 14th April to 16th May 2025 on UCD’s Belfield campus in Dublin, Ireland. Upon successful completion of the module, participants will receive a statement of results from UCD as well as a personalised letter of reference confirming the participant’s achievements on the course. (2) University College Dublin: Micro-credentials Online module on Ethical Dilemmas in Humanitarian Negotiation and Mediation at UCD Centre for Humanitarian Action - 16 June- 4 July
This module is designed to serve as a safe learning space for participants to confront and work through ethical dilemmas that face humanitarian practitioners on a daily basis while negotiating for access or offering informal mediation. The curriculum has been developed with input from sectoral leaders such as PRIO, CCHN and Glencree. The course is based on Universal Design for Learning principles and follows a Problem-Based Learning pedagogical approach. The module will be delivered through a series of live, interactive online workshops with experts complemented by bespoke recorded lectures, journal articles and text-based scenario games based on real-life case studies. (3) STAND: Applications are open for the STAND Ideas Collective - 15 May
The Ideas Collective is STAND’s flagship summer bootcamp for students and recent grads who want to make a real impact. Through hands-on workshops in design thinking, social innovation, communications, leadership, and social enterprise development, participants gain the tools, confidence, and community to turn bold ideas into action. Held in Dublin’s Digital Hub, this 5-day in-person programme helps participants explore the root causes of issues they care about while developing their own project and pitching it for the chance to join an incubator and secure seed funding.
