Webinar: From Presentation to Representation: Participation and working collaboratively and collectively with Disabled People and their Organisations (DPOs)
On October 4th 2024 the Dóchas Disability in International Development Working Group held a webinar titled ' From Presentation to Representation: participation and working collaboratively with Disabled People and their Organisations (DPOs)' - an international perspective.
The webinar explored the significance of meaningful engagement with DPOs in humanitarian and development work. Working in partnership is where we find local solutions to local challenges, and it is a key aspect of disability equality. Meaningful engagement and support are also vital elements, helping us reach those often overlooked in many spaces and amplifying their voices.
Speakers
In this talk, we heard from disabled and non-disabled panellists from Kenya, Malawi and Ireland about these issues and more, from an international, and indeed national, perspective.
- Ednar Musyoka, Programme Officer, CBM Kenya
- Bonface Massah, CEO, Standing Voice, Malawi
- Claire Kenny, Policy Worker, Independent Living Movement Ireland (ILMI)
This event was moderated by Dr. James Casey, Disability Inclusive Climate Justice Lead at CBM Ireland.
Thank you to our esteemed speakers, as well as to the members and chairs of the Disability in International Development Working Group for their input and efforts.
