The Dóchas Safeguarding Code, first developed in 2019 by leaders in the sector, has been updated over the course of this year under the guidance of the Dóchas Safeguarding Working Group. The reinvigorated Charter 2024 reinforces the principles and commitments set out in 2019, with the aim of building and strengthening a robust safeguarding culture for the development and humanitarian sector in Ireland.
The Core Humanitarian Standard on Quality and Accountability (CHS) was updated over a two-year process 2022-2024 to ensure the commitments made to people affected by crisis and experiencing vulnerability are relevant and more accessible to a wider range of aid organisations. The Global launch took place in Geneva in March 2024, with a series of country launches held over the course of the year. Dóchas is delighted to host the Irish country launch.
