The Dóchas HIV and AIDS working group would like to invite you to a seminar organised to mark World AIDS Day 2015 on Tuesday 1st December. All are welcome.
Prof Sam McConkey is the Head of Department of International Health & Tropical Medicine at Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and has research interests in malaria vaccines, immunity infection and inflamation. Prof. Mc Conkey will give an overview of the latest biomedical research into HIV prevention and control.
James O'Connor, as Development Manager with Open Heart House from 1997 to 2012, developed supports structures, including peer support for over 1500 people living with HIV and AIDS. He has influenced HIV policy nationally, internationally and globally. He has served on the Gay Health Network, the HIV Services Network, and the European AIDS & Mobility Network. He has addressed HIV Fora in Europe, at the UN and in Africa and is a regular contributor to the HIV debate in the media.
Breda Gahan is a nurse and midwife with a Masters Degree in Public Health. Breda is the Global HIV and AIDS Programme Adviser for Concern Worldwide and a founding member of the Dóchas HIV and AIDS working group with many years experience working with HIV and AIDS in many different developing countries. Breda is also the recipient of the Dóchas Global Citizen of the Year Award 2015.
